GOLDEN KNIGHTS TAKE RUBBER MATCH WITH NEW HAVEN, 4-3

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose defeated New Haven, 4-3, on Sunday to win the weekend series in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on a gorgeous afternoon at Cathy Haker Field.

New Haven (23-14/12-11 NE-10) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when its first three batters singled and plated two runs.

Junior left fielder Carly Wood led off the home half of the second with a single and later scored on a game-tying, two-run double by sophomore third baseman Jadyn Costello.

The Golden Knights (13-26/7-14 NE-10) took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third when freshman first baseman Briana Bowen launched a triple to right field to score Wood and freshman pinch runner Grace Jacobs.

Senior right-hander Nicole Wickham looked sharp in her final collegiate start, striking out four over 5.2 innings of work. Freshman righty Roma Mazzariello pitched 1.1 scoreless innings out of the pen to pick up her first save.

Sunday marked the final game for seniors Wickham, shortstop Danielle Brusca, right-hander Danielle Dayton, catcher Zoe Dubois, designated player Tina Karaqi, center fielder Meghan Reynolds and Taylor Snyder.
