SAINT ROSE SPLITS AT NE-10 RIVAL ADELPHI


GARDEN CITY, N.Y.-The College of Saint Rose collected a season-high 15 hits in a 9-6 game one victory at Adelphi on Sunday, but fell, 2-0, in the nightcap of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on Long Island.
 
The top five hitters in the Saint Rose (8-18/3-7 NE-10) lineup went a combined 11-for-18 (.611) in the opener, with seven runs scored, eight RBIs and five walks. Junior left fielder Carly Wood had a team-high three hits including a pair of doubles, while senior catcher Zoe DuBois hit a home run and collected a team-best three RBIs.
 
Senior shortstop Danielle Brusca finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs and two walks. Sophomore third baseman Jadyn Costello also went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, while freshman right hander Roma Mazzariello picked up her second win of the season after tossing a complete game.
 
In game two, Mazzariello tossed 3.1 scoreless innings, but Adelphi (22-14/12-3 NE-10) scored two runs in the fifth, and freshman right hander Kristin Fealy pitched a shutout to take the rubber match of the weekend series.
 
Senior right fielder Tina Karaqi went 1-for-3 with a double and Wood finished 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
 
Up next, the Golden Knights visit Southern Connecticut for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday, April 12 before hosting American International in a 5 p.m. twinbill on Wednesday, April 13 at Cathy Haker Field.
