CLERMONT, Fla.-The College of Saint Rose fell to Quincy, 3-0, and 24th-ranked West Chester, 7-1, in non-league play on Saturday evening.
Â
Freshman pitcher
Briana Bowen tossed a complete game in the opener but the Golden Knights could not keep pace with the Hawks (4-4) offensively.
Â
In game two, No. 24 West Chester (11-0) was limited to two runs through the first three innings. In the home half of the fourth, Saint Rose (1-3) got on the board with a two-out RBI single from junior first baseman
Kayla Bancroft to cut the lead to 2-1. She drove home senior catcher
Zoe Dubois who had walked earlier in the inning.
Â
The Golden Knights were unable to overcome strong pitching from the Golden Rams the rest of the way and allowed one run in the top of the fifth and four in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Â
Playing left field in game two, Bowen went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles from the leadoff spot.
Â
Saint Rose continues its play in the Sunshine State on Sunday against Dowling at 9 a.m. before taking on the Golden Bears of Kutztown at 11 a.m.Â
