CLERMONT, Fla.- Freshman outfielder
Erin Maloney hit a walk-off grand slam in the opener on Sunday to give The College of Saint Rose a 12-10 victory over Dowling. The Golden Knights were upended 15-1 by Kutztown in the second game of the day.
The Golden Knights (2-4) trailed by five runs entering the seventh inning against Dowling (1-3), but rallied to bat around in the inning, capped off by a walk-off grand slam with two outs by Maloney. Junior left fielder
Carly Wood went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs and two RBIs. Freshman catcher
Victoria Hallet finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Freshman pitcher
Briana Bowen tossed 1.1 innings and allowed an unearned run, while recording her team-high third extra-base hit of the season, a triple, on which she later scored.
In game two, senior first baseman
Taylor Snyder went 2-for-2 with a double and scored the lone run for the Golden Knights.
Saint Rose will have Monday off before returning to action in Florida with games on Tuesday, March 8 against Concordia (NY) at 11 a.m. and Grand Valley State at 3 p.m.
