WOOD EXTENDS MULTI-HIT STREAK, SAINT ROSE DROPS TWO AT LE MOYNE

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Junior left fielder Carly Wood pushed her multi-hit streak to seven games on Wednesday, but The College of Saint Rose fell 9-8 and 8-1 in the Upstate Challenge at Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne.

Wood went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double including three RBIs and two runs scored in the opener. The Golden Knights (7-16) jumped out to a 5-0 advantage to lead off the game before Le Moyne (17-11) then battled back to tie things at five in the third inning.

Next, the Dolphins scored two in the fifth to lead 7-5, but Wood's two-run bomb in the following stanza locked the score at 7-7. Le Moyne kept the pressure on in the sixth, scoring two runs with two outs to take a 9-7 lead. Saint Rose then got within one after a two-out RBI double from Wood, but could not force extras.

Eight different Golden Knights recorded a hit including freshman designated player Briana Bowen, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, a round tripper from senior shortstop Danielle Brusca tied the contest at 1-1 in the fourth inning, but Saint Rose could not scratch out another run despite recording nine hits. The Dolphins took a 2-1 lead in the fifth, and secured it with a six-run outburst in the sixth.

Senior catcher Zoe Dubois and Wood each went 2-for-4, while Bowen finished 1-for-3 with a double.

Over her last 10 games, Wood has collected nine multi-hit games and is 21-for-36 (.583) with 13 runs, seven RBIs, six doubles, two home runs, two walks, a stolen base, and has not struck out.

Up next, the Golden Knights will travel to Southern New Hampshire for a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 2, before heading to Franklin Pierce for a 12 p.m. twinbill on Sunday.
