SAINT ROSE SWEPT IN NON-LEAGUE DOUBLEHEADER WITH DOMINICAN

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose fell to Dominican (N.Y.) 8-2 and 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Cathy Haker Field.

The Golden Knights (4-13) scored on back-to-back hits from junior third baseman Carly Wood and freshman third baseman Briana Bowen to lead off the first inning of game one. Saint Rose then loaded the bases with one out, but could not plate another run in the stanza.

Dominican (12-8) got on the board in the third before scoring a combined seven runs over the final three innings to capture the victory.

Senior catcher Zoe Dubois went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Wood collected a pair of singles to lead the Golden Knights.

In game two, the Lady Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening frame before Saint Rose cut the lead to 3-2 after the home half. The Dominican lineup, however, took control and scored in every inning to force a run-rule decision.

Sophomore third baseman Jadyn Costello and senior right fielder Tina Karaqi each went 2-for-3 with a double. Wood finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and has recorded five multi-hit games in the last seven, including three straight.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will play doubleheaders at Southern Connecticut on Friday and Saturday. Dominican has a twinbill at Molloy on Monday.
