GOLDEN KNIGHTS DEFEAT PACE 59-56

PLEASANTVILLE, NY-The College of Saint Rose limited Pace University to a pair of field goals throughout the final 6:50 to upend the host Setters 59-56 in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening. In the process, the Golden Knights solidified their hold on third place in the Southwest Division heading into the final week of the season.

Junior forward Tyler Sayre recorded a "double-double" with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, while junior guard Damon Coleman contributed 11 points, six rebounds and a like number of assists to propel the Saint Rose (12-13/10-9 NE-10) effort.

The game featured 10 ties and 17 lead changes before sophomore guard Mical-Ryan Boyd knocked down a 3-pointer to afford the contest its final deadlock, 51-51, with 1:28 remaining. After the Setters (9-17/6-12 NE-10) came up empty, Sayre completed a conventional three point play and the Golden Knights never trailed again. They then made 5-of-6 from the stripe to seal the victory.

For Pace, senior guard Shelton Mickell scored 18 points and sophomore guard Bryan Rivers added 11.

Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm conference dates Saturday. Saint Rose plays its regular-season finale in the second half of an NE-10 doubleheader at American International in Springfield. Meanwhile, the Setters travel to New Haven.
