SAINT ROSE OPENS UP 2016 CAMPAIGN WITH A PAIR OF SETBACKS

HARTSVILLE, SC–The College of Saint Rose opened its 2016 campaign with a pair of setback at Coker College earlier today.

The Golden Knights (0-2) loaded the bases to the put the winning run in scoring position in the ninth inning of the opener, but the Cobras were able to prevail 5-3. They then opened up a 5-1 lead after the third to take the finale 14-6.
 
Junior second baseman Mike Flynn went 3-for-3 with a triple and senior right-hander Nick Cioffi hurled 6.0 innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts in a no-decision outing to lead Saint Rose.
 
Meanwhile, junior first baseman Darius Coliron went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs to ignite the Coker (9-2) attack.
 
In the second game, senior left fielder Nick Venier and sophomore second baseman Alec Caprarella pounded out three hits apiece.
