ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose capped off 2016 in outstanding fashion by winning its fourth straight behind today's 59-50 non-conference victory versus Goldey-Beacom at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights (7-5) outscored the Lightning 32-18 in the paint.
Junior guard
Britani Stowe scored a season-high 16 points, on 7-for-12 shooting, and handed out five assists to propel Saint Rose. Senior guard
Taylor Nazon finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists; while sophomore forward
Karissa Birthwright added 11 points.
"I was very happy with how we played, especially our rebounding down the stretch. Brit had a big scoring night, which was great to see. Some solid efforts from our bench helped us come away with the win," said head coach
Karen Haag.

The Golden Knights never trailed although it was a two or three possession affair for most of the afternoon. The Lightning (9-6) reeled off five unanswered points to get to within a hoop, 36-34, with 4:37 remaining in the third period. However, Saint Rose closed the stanza with an 8-2 jaunt to boost its advantage back to eight, 44-36, heading to the fourth.

The Golden Knights kept pushing at the outset of the final period and increased their lead to a game-high 13, 51-38, after junior guard
Morgan Sullivan knocked down a 3-pointer with 6:30 showing on the clock. It remained a double-digit affair the rest of the way as Saint Rose went 6-for-8 from the foul line during the final 51 seconds to seal the victory.

Junior guard Lexi Bruno tossed in 20 points and junior forward Britani Bryson added 13 for Goldey-Beacom, which had its nine-game win streak snapped.

Looking ahead, both teams return to conference play on Wednesday, January 4. Saint Rose travels to Manchester for a date at Southern New Hampshire. The first half of the
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader gets underway at 5:30 pm. Meanwhile, Goldey-Beacom hosts Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Caldwell at 6:00 pm.
