ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose closed out the third period with a 10-0 run on the way to today's 73-66

Â
"Our rebounding was the difference maker today. Also, we got great minutes from our young bench. I am proud of the team's effort against a hot shooting team," said head coach
Karen Haag.
Â
Senior guard
Taylor Nazon scored a career-high 23 points and senior forward
Staci Barrett recorded her third "double-double" of the year behind 14 points and a career best 16 boards to propel Saint Rose. Junior guard
Britani Stowe added 12 points, four assists and four steals.
Â
The Golden Knights went into the locker room up five, 38-33, at intermission and it was still a five point affair, 46-41, with 5:08 to go in the third when sophomore guard
Niki Tsiotos knocked down a jumper to ignite the decisive spurt. Four minutes later, freshman forward
Leah Dollard drained a jumper herself to cap it.
Â
Southern Connecticut State eventually whittled its deficit to seven on three occasions throughout the fourth period with the last time coming at 67-60 after freshman guard Imani Wheeler finished inside. However, Stowe buried a pair from the foul line and then hit another after coming up with a steal to put Saint Rose in the driver's seat, 70-60, with 40 ticks remaining.
Â
Senior forward Taylor McLaughlin led all scorers with 26 points and Wheeler added 13 in 20 minutes off the bench to pace the Owls, who came into this afternoon having won three of their last four.
