SPRINGFIELD-The College of Saint Rose outscored Dominican 15-5 throughout the opening eight minutes of the fourth period en route to a 58-44 victory during the first day of action at the American International College Tournament.

The Golden Knights (5-5) put nine players in the scoring column and manufactured a 44-36 rebounding advantage, including a 33-20 differential on the defensive glass.

"We looked a little rusty this afternoon, but we crashed the boards well. We also got solid contributions from our bench, which was encouraging," said head coach
Karen Haag.

Senior guard
Taylor Nazon finished with 15 points behind 3-for-5 shooting from the arc. Senior forward
Staci Barrett contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals; while junior guard
Britani Stowe wound up with a team-high eight rebounds, to go along with four assists and six points.

For Dominican (1-9), senior forward Lisa Bouffard tossed in 12 points and hauled in seven caroms.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose has a quick turnaround as it wraps up the tournament tomorrow with a 3:30 pm meeting against Bridgeport. The Golden Knights then return home on Friday, December 30 for a 1:00 pm non-conference date versus Goldey-Beacom.
Notes: Saint Rose has now won three of its last four games…Barrett and Nazon have each been in double-figures scoring throughout nine of the squad's 10 games to date…The Golden Knights have outscored their opponents 298-285 during the second half, but have been outscored 337-305 during the opening 20 minutes of their 10 contests.
