SAINT ROSE HOLDS DOWN NEW HAVEN

Golden Knights Deliver 600th Career Win To Head Coach Brian Beaury

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose held New Haven to 15.6 points below its season scoring average to upend the visiting Chargers 72-60 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.

"Our guys found another way to get it done today. We were stingy defensively and cleaned up the glass very well. I like when we can count on lots of guys to give us the lift we need. We continue to have different guys helping," said head coach Brian Beaury who chalked up his 600th career victory.

The Golden Knights (4-0/2-0 NE-10) led throughout the final 35 minutes. They walked in the locker room up 30-22 at the break after closing the period with an 11-5 run that transformed a 19-17 lead into an eight point, 30-22 halftime cushion.

The Chargers (2-2/1-1 NE-10) pulled to within four, 43-39, midway through the second stanza, but Saint Rose scored 13 of the game's ensuing 19 points to regain control behind an 11 point, 56-45, advantage with 6:30 to go. Three minutes later, senior guard Damon Coleman came up with a steal and finished at the other end to make it a 15 point, 66-51, affair.

All nine players who saw action wound up in the Saint Rose scoring column. Coleman finished with 13 points while junior forward Julian Lipinski went 5-for-7 from the floor on the way to a 12 point effort. Also, sophomore guard Shane Herrity tossed in a season-high 11 points during 14 minutes of reserve duty.

For New Haven, sophomore guard Michael Bourke scored 16 points and junior guard Tommy Hunt added 11.

Looking ahead, both teams are back in action with 7:30 pm games Tuesday. Saint Rose travels to Pleasantville to take on Pace University, while the Chargers host Adelphi.
