GOLDEN KNIGHTS RUN PAST CONCORDIA

Lipinski Scores A Career-High 22 Points To Lead The Saint Rose Charge

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose shot 56.5 percent (35-for-62) and generated 15 points off of 22 Concordia turnovers to run past the visiting Clippers 97-69 during the final day of action at the Northeast-10 Challenge Presented by Hilton Garden Inn Albany Medical Center.

"I'm proud of how these guys played today. They were very focused on both ends. They did an excellent job executing our game plan. While it's still early, I like the things we're doing and the fact that lots of guys are contributing," said head coach Brian Beaury.

The Golden Knights (2-0) put themselves in the driver's seat early on and never looked back. Saint Rose jumped out to a 16 point, 19-3, lead in the opening five minutes and eventually walked in the locker room up 27, 54-27, at intermission.

Saint Rose put four players in double-figures and 12 in the scoring column. Junior forward Julian Lipinski led the way with a career-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds. Senior forward Tyler Sayre and junior guard Mical-Ryan Boyd scored 17 apiece, while junior forward Jack Jones added 10 throughout 18 minutes off the bench.

Also, senior guards Chris Dorgler and Damon Colema handed out 13 assists with only one turnover collectively.

For Concordia (0-2), sophomore forward Stephen Milhaven recorded a "double-double" behind 18 points and 10 boards.

In today's first game, fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Le Moyne made it a 4-0 weekend for the league with an 81-76 victory versus Molloy. Sophomore guard C. J. Asuncion-Byrd  scored 22 points to pace the Dolphins.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to open the NE-10 portion of its 2016-17 slate Wednesday at American International in Springfield. The second half of the league doubleheader is set for 7:30 pm, following the women's 5:30 pm contest. Meanwhile, Concordia plays its opener homer Wednesday with an 8:00 pm non-league date versus East Stroudsburg.
Notes: Saint Rose is 2-0 for the first time in four years…Beaury is now just two victories shy of becoming only the 17th NCAA Division II mentor to reach the 600 win plateau…Saint Rose has generated 43 assists on its 63 made field goals thus far.
