GOLDEN KNIGHTS HAVE FOUR GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED

SPRINGFIELD-The College of Saint Rose had its four match unbeaten streak snapped with tonight's 2-1 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival American International. The Golden Knights dictated the play rate by engineering a 13-4 shot advantage, including a 10-0 margin in the second half, and a 9-2 corner kick differential.

However, the Yellow Jackets (7-7-0/5-5-0 NE-10) put themselves out front in the fifth minute and then added another for a 2-0 halftime edge, before the Golden Knights (5-7-1/3-6-1 NE-10) got on the board midway through the second period.

Sophomore forward Ryan Rooney scored his NE-10 leading 12th goal of the year and senior forward Joshua Hanif directed three shots-on-target to spearhead the Saint Rose offense.

Meanwhile, freshman forward Steven Hernandez accounted for the game-winner and set up the first strike for American International.

Senior midfielder Juan Correa got things going when he collected a pass from Hernandez on the left side of the box and let go a shot that found its way inside the right post. Hernandez then made 2-0 in the 33rd, before Rooney made it interesting with a header in the 72nd.

The Golden Knights kept pushing forward and engineered three corners and a like number of shots during the final 18 minutes, but ultimately could not come up with the equalizer.

Looking ahead, both sides have home conference matches set for Saturday. Saint Rose will host Franklin Pierce at 5:00 pm for Senior Day, while American International will head to Syracuse to face Le Moyne at 2:00 pm.

Notes: Rooney ran his goal scoring streak to five matches tonight…He has six strikes throughout that time frame, three of which have been game-winners…Two of the Golden Knights final three regular-season matches will be at home where they are 4-2 this autumn.
