ALBANY–Tonight's rematch of last year's
Northeast-10 Conference Championship Final ended in similar fashion with Adelphi registering a 1-0 victory against The College of Saint Rose.
Â
The 12th ranked Panthers (10-1-1/7-1-1 NE-10) generated a 14-9 shot advantage in a game that either team could have won.
Â
However, junior forward Jeannine Nunez provided the difference for the Panthers midway through the second period when she one-touched home a cross off the right flank from fellow junior forward Taylor Sipos. In the process, Adelphi ran its win streak to six matches and improved to 5-0 on the road this autumn.
Â
Meanwhile, freshman forward
Nina Predanic had the best chance for the Golden Knights (7-5-0/4-5-0 NE-10) in the 25th minute. Predanic curled a shot from about 12-yards out that skidded off the post and out of bounds to foreshadow the eventual outcome.
Â
Sophomore keeper
Madison Taylor recorded five of her seven saves in the first half for Saint Rose, while sophomore Anne Marie Ulliac turned aside three shots-on-target for the Panthers.
Â
Looking ahead, both sides return to the pitch Saturday. Saint Rose hosts Bentley at 2:00 pm for Senior Day while Adelphi has a 4:00 pm meeting at Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH.
