DEVIC NOTCHES 1,000TH KILL, GOLDEN KNIGHTS SWEPT AT NE-10 RIVAL ADELPHI


GARDEN CITY, NY-The College of Saint Rose fell 3-0 (25-20, 36-34, 25-19) at Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Knights (5-7/1-2 NE-10) were led offensively by senior outside hitter Maryellen Devic, who finished with 12 kills and 15 digs. In doing so, she became the third player in school history to reach the 1,000 career kill pinnacle (Stephanie Brink - 1348, 2004-07,  Sally Munter -1045, 2004-07).

Sophomore middle hitter Shayna Webber totaled eight kills behind a .412 attack percentage, two service aces and three blocks.
 
In the opening set, Saint Rose trailed 21-20 before Adelphi (8-7/1-2 NE-10) scored the final four points to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers then outlasted the Golden Knights in the second set to take a 2-0 advantage before taking control of the final frame to seal the victory.
 
Senior outside hitter Rachel Salasky totaled nine kills and senior middle blocker Jennifer Gundrum compiled seven kills to help the Golden Knights cause.
 
For the Panthers, senior right side hitter Amanda Borges tallied a match-high 14 kills with two aces, two blocks and five digs.
 
Looking ahead, Saint Rose will travel to Molloy on Saturday, October 8 to take on NYIT at 1:00 pm and the host Lions at 3:00 pm.
