SAINT ROSE DEFEATS SAINT ANSELM FOR SIXTH-STRAIGHT VICTORY


MANCHESTER, NH-The College of Saint Rose used a 12-0 run to open the second half on Saturday afternoon en route to a 67-55 victory over host Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm, as the Golden Knights notched their sixth-consecutive triumph.
 
Junior guard Taylor Nazon scored a game-high 17 points, tying her career-high set in Wednesday's victory over Southern New Hampshire. The Windy City native was 4-of-4 from long range and 6-of-7 from the field.
 
Saint Rose (10-4/5-3 NE-10) and Saint Anselm (7-6/4-5 NE-10) played a back-and-forth first half and went into the locker room tied at 31.
 
The Golden Knights' 12-0 spurt to open the second half was the decisive run in the contest, as Saint Rose led by as many as 18 and never allowed the Hawks to get within single digits in the fourth period.
 
Senior guard Keyontae Williams totaled 16 points, five assists, five rebounds and four steals; while junior forward Staci Barrett finished with 13 points and nine boards.
 
Senior forward Sarah Illingworth pulled down 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Britani Stowe tallied seven points, six rebounds and four assists. Freshman forward Karissa Birthwright added six points and six rebounds.
 
The Golden Knights held a 46-34 advantage on the glass and limited the Hawks to 31.7 percent (19-for-60) shooting.
 
Up next, Saint Rose returns home on Wednesday, January 13 for a 5:30 pm NE-10 matchup with Assumption in the first half of a conference doubleheader inside Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
