SAINT ROSE NOTCHES SEVENTH STRAIGHT WITH 67-55 WIN OVER ASSUMPTION

ALBANY- Senior guard Keyontae Williams scored a career-best 24 points on Wednesday evening as The College of Saint Rose defeated visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption, 67-55, for its seventh-consecutive victory.

Saint Rose (11-4/6-3 NE-10) shot 54.3 percent (25-for-46) and held Assumption (10-5/6-4 NE-10) to 30.9 percent (17-for-55) shooting, including a 4-of-22 mark from long range.

The Golden Knights took a 15-10 lead after the opening frame and a 29-21 advantage into halftime.

In the third period, a three-point play from freshman forward Karissa Birthwright gave Saint Rose its largest lead of the game at 49-30 with 1:05 to go in the third period. Birthwright finished with seven points, four boards and two blocks.

Following their largest deficit of the night, the Hounds responded with an impressive 20-6 run over the next eight minutes to cut the lead to 55-50 with 3:07 remaining. However, the Golden Knights quickly stole momentum right back, scoring the next 12 points, including nine from Williams, to finish the game strong.

For Assumption, junior forward Jo Impellizeri had 13 points and six rebounds.

Up next, Saint Rose travels to Rindge, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Golden Knights have the opportunity to extend their win streak to eight, the longest since the team started 8-0 in 2006-07.
