ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose came out of the gate in the second half with a 9-0 run to construct an insurmountable lead over visiting Saint Michael's on Saturday, ultimately defeating the Purple Knights 78-63 in a
Northeast-10 Conference meeting at Nolan Gymnasium.
The Golden Knights (14-5/8-4 NE-10) led 37-33 at the break and broke it open over the final 20 minutes, leading by double-digits for the entire fourth period, and as many as 17 after a layup from junior forward
Staci Barrett with 7:23 to go. She finished with a season-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds and three steals.
Junior guard
Taylor Nazon tallied double-figures in scoring for her seventh-straight game, chipping in 18 including a 4-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. Senior guard
Keyontae Williams totaled 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore guard
Britani Stowe racked up seven assists to go along with eight points, while freshman forward
Karissa Birthwright tossed in 11 points and pulled down four rebounds.
Saint Rose finished with 14 assists to just nine turnovers, tied for its fewest of the season, and shot 51.9 percent (27-for-52) from the field.
For Saint Michael's (7-10/3-9), senior guard Makenzie Burud tallied 18 points and 13 boards, while sophomore guard Leah Spencer scored a team-best 21.
