SAINT ROSE HAS SEVEN GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED WITH TWO POINT SETBACK AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

RINDGE, NH-The College of Saint Rose had its seven game win streak snapped with today's 61-59 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce.

Junior forward Staci Barrett misfired on a jumper with two seconds left to allow the Ravens (9-5/6-4 NE-10) to win their seventh straight after senior forward Kara Charette sank a pair of free throws that afforded her team only its second lead of the fourth period.

Consequently, it ruined a comeback for the Golden Knights (9-5/6-4 NE-10) who outscored Franklin Pierce 22-5 in the second period to take a 26-20 lead at intermission after trailing 15-4 following the first.

Barrett recorded her third "double-double" of the year to lead Saint Rose. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with a pair of blocks. Senior forward Tyler Hansen tossed in a team high 15 points in 22 minutes off the bench, while junior guard Taylor Nazon and senior guard Keyontae Williams contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.

Also, freshman forward Karissa Birthwright contributed seven points and a season-high 10 boards.

Hansen knocked down all three of her 3-pointers in the second period to spearhead the charge. The Golden Knights then boosted their advantage to eight, 40-32, after Nazon drained a trey with 4:01 to go in the third. Franklin Pierce got to within one on five occasions in the fourth, before sophomore guard Jemma Thacker scored on a layup with 1:01 remaining to afford the Ravens their first lead, 59-57, since the midway point of the second stanza.

Two possessions later, sophomore guard Britani Stowe came up with a steal and Nazon converted a layup out of a time out to tie it. Charette then provided the difference at the stripe for the final two of her team-leading 18 points.

Looking ahead, both teams have non-league games set for this Monday, January 18. The Golden Knights will host Concordia at 5:30 pm while Franklin Pierce will travel to New Jersey to take on Caldwell at 1:00 pm.
