ALBANY – Sophomore Averie Bowen and senior Isabella Cubillos battled to secure the only points for The College of Saint Rose tennis team Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Knights dropped a Northeast-10 Conference and Upstate Challenge match to Le Moyne 7-2 at Kelton Courts at Myers Middle School.

The Duo combined for an 8-4 win over freshman Tiffany Dun and sophomore Rithika Vajjiravelu at first doubles, while senior Paige Southwick and sophomore KeriAnn Mahoney and senior Maria Malafronte, and sophomore Alanna Bergmann both fell at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.

Bowen continued her fight into No. 1 singles, defeating Dunn 4-6, 7-6 (10-8) in the tiebreaker.

Cubillos struggled at second singles, falling to Vajjiravelu 6-2, 6-1.

Saint Rose dropped to 0-2 overall, and Le Moyne improved to 1-0 on the season.

The Golden Knights begin a three-match road swing on Saturday, starting at 1:00 pm at American International. Saint Rose returns home on Friday, September 18 for a non-conference meeting with Roberts Wesleyan at 4:30 pm.
