Sophomores Rithika Vajjiravelu and Amica Beniot-Limosani took an 8-2 victory from seniors
Isabella Cubillos and
Paige Southwick at first doubles, and continued their route into singles. Vajjiravelu claimed the No. 1 slot 6-0, 6-1 over Cubbilos, while Southwick dropped in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 to Beniot-Limosani.
Scouting Saint Rose (0-1): The Golden Knights suffered a 9-0 shutout from Merrimack in their season opener Saturday afternoon. The Warriors swept all three doubles points to start, and continued with a clean route of singles. Cubillos captured the most points for Saint Rose, coming up short to force the tie breaker at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 7-5 decision, while
Southwick fell 6-0, 6-4 at third.
Scouting Le Moyne (0-0): The Dolphins open their 2015-16 campaign on Tuesday after posting an 8-11 overall, and 6-6 Northeast-10 Conference mark last season. Vajjiravelu led the squad with a 10-7 mark at No. 1 singles, followed by Benoit-Limosani at 9-8 at second singles. Dominuque Canale '15 and Margaret LaFleaur '15 posted the best doubles mark with a 4-4 record at No. 3. Jessica Geary '15 and junior Christina Perry followed at 5-8 at No. 2.
Up next: Saint Rose starts a three-match road swing at NE-10 foe American International on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Golden Knights return home on Friday, September 18 to host non-conference foe Roberts Wesleyan at 4:30 pm.
