ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack Saturday afternoon at Kelton Courts on the campus of Myers Middle School.
The 1:00 pm meeting was the season opener for both teams, allowing the Warriors to come away at 1-0 overall on the day, as Saint Rose moved to 0-1.
Merrimack swept all three doubles points to start, and continued with a clean route of singles.
Senior Isabella Cubillos captured the most points for Saint Rose, and came up short to force the tie breaker at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 7-5 decision, while Paige Southwick fell to Lauren Persson 6-0, 6-4 at third.
The Golden Knights host Upstate Challenge foe Le Moyne on Tuesday at 4:30 pm at Kelton Courts at Myers Middle School, followed by a three-match road swing starting at NE-10 foe American International on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
