MANCHESTER, N.H. – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team captured just one point in an 8-1 loss at Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Averie Bowen and senior
Isabella Cubillos combined at the No. 1 doubles position to claim an 8-5 win over sophomore Jess Perkins and freshman Tess Malerbi.
Senior
Paige Southwick and sophomore
Alanna Bergmann fell 8-6 at second doubles, and junior
Maria Malafronte and sophomore
KeriAnn Mahoney dropped third, 8-6.
Bowen and Southwick battled in singles as both fell in the tiebreaker. Bowen dropped to Perkins 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 in the No. 1 slot, while Southwick registered scores of 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 at third.
The Golden Knights dropped to 3-6 overall, 1-4 in the NE-10 with the loss, and the Hawks moved to 3-4, 2-3.
Saint Rose remains on the road on Sunday to face Assumption at 1:00 pm, before returning home to host non-conference rival Post at 4:30 pm on Monday at the UAlbany Tennis Courts.
