ALBANY – The Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis team remained unscathed as it handed The College of Saint Rose a 6-3 loss Friday afternoon at the UAlbany Tennis Courts.
Saint Rose (1-4 overall) got out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles round, but was unable to hold momentum throughout singles. Freshman
Averie Bowen and senior
Isabella Cubillos combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, as did senior
Paige Southwick and sophomore
Alanna Bergmann in second with an 8-4 win.
Bowen continued her route into No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 4-6 (10-2) tally over sophomore Natalia Cardona.
Cubillos battled at second singles and eventually fell in the tiebreaker 3-6, 6-7 (10-11) to sophomore Marine Kennel.
Saint Rose heads to Capital District foe Sage College on Saturday at 1:00 pm, and hosts SUNY Plattsburgh at Kelton Courts at Myers Middle School on Sunday, also at 1:00 pm.
