Paige Southwick and sophomore
KeriAnn Mahoney led The College of Saint Rose tennis team to its first win of the season in a 6-3 battle at Northeast-10 Conference foe American International Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights improved to 1-2 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-2.
Southwick and Mahoney defeated junior Eleanna Fulop and freshman Whitney McKay 8-4 at second doubles, and both went on to win in singles. Southwick took the No. 3 position 2-6, 6-2 (12-10) over Fulop, and Mahoney claimed the No. 4 slot 6-2, 6-2 over McKay.
Sophomore
Alanna Bergmann nabbed fifth singles 6-1, 6-0 over freshman Callie Porcher.
Saint Rose claimed the No. 3 doubles and sixth singles points by default.
The Golden Knights remain on the road on Sunday at NE-10 foe Saint Michael's at 1:00 pm. Saint Rose returns home on Friday to host Roberts Wesleyan at 4:30 pm at Kelton Courts at Myers Middle School.
