MANCHESTER, NH-Freshman midfielder
Danae Kaldaridou knocked home a rebound with less than three minutes remaining in the second overtime to lift The College of Saint Rose to a 1-0 win in its
Northeast-10 Conference opener today at Southern New Hampshire.
Senior midfielder
Amanda Vasquez sent in a free kick from outside the left corner of the area that fellow senior midfielder
Michaela Phillips headed on goal. Southern New Hampshire (2-1/0-1 NE-10) sophomore keeper Paige Solomon managed to turn it aside, but Kaldaridou got her head on the rebound for her first strike in a Golden Knights (2-0-1/1-0-0 NE-10) uniform.
Second ranked Saint Rose had the most chances with a 9-2 shots-on-goal differential, three of which came from senior forward
Silvana Giovannone. However, each side wound up with two each in the extra sessions as freshman keeper
Madison Taylor was at her best in the key moments. Solomon finished with eight saves for Southern New Hampshire.
Looking ahead, both teams have road conference dates on Wednesday. Saint Rose travels to Saint Michael's in Colchester, VT for a 4:00 pm tilt while the Penmen head to Springfield to face AIC at 7:00 pm.
