ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Despite a 1-1 tie heading into halftime, The College of Saint Rose volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 15-25, 21-25) decision to Millersville at the Roberts Wesleyan Quad Match Friday afternoon.
Led by sophomore Erin Harman's 13 kills, the Marauder's maintained their perfect 5-0 overall record, while Saint Rose moved to 2-2 on the season.
Jennifer Gundrum, Maryellen Devic and Carissa Dube knocked down eight attacks apiece to lead the Saint Rose offense. Setters Sam Kubik and Erica Ziskin dished out 13 and 17 assists, repsectively, and Ziskin and sophomore Maddy Halverson registered 25 total digs.
Millersville took game one 26-24, followed by the Golden Knights nabbing game two with the same score.
After the break, the Marauder's used an 8-0 run early in the game, jumping out to an 18-9 lead in game three and kept Saint Rose at an arm's length throughout the rest of the set. The Golden Knights could only muster six more points before Millersville took a 2-1 overall lead.
Game four started off in favor of Saint Rose as the Golden Knights posted an 8-4 advantage, and forced a Marauder timeout. Saint Rose kept its momentum for most of the game until Millersville tied the set at 21-all and took control en route to a 25-15 win.
The Golden Knights continue play on Saturday as they face IUP at 10:30 am, and the host Red Hawks at 3:00 pm. Saint Rose opens its home slate on Friday against Clarion at 7:00 pm.
