CLERMONT, Fla. ā Junior Rachel Waseleski broke a three inning scoring drought with her first home run of the season to aid in a 2-0 win over Indiana University of Pennsylvania for The College of Saint Rose softball team Friday afternoon, after dropping a 3-0 decision to Lock Haven earlier in the day at the NTC Spring Games.

The Golden Knights improved to 5-6 overall as IUP fell to 0-2 and the Lady Eagles (1-0) notched their first win of the season.

Kari Bird stepped to the plate with sophomore
Carly Wood on second and junior
Zoe DuBois on first. Bird laid down a bunt, and reached on a throwing error from sophomore pitcher Amanda Spindler, allowing Wood to scoot home.

Junior Nicole Wickam (4-3) collected her fourth win of the season as she struck out nine, and allowed only two hits. Eight members of the Saint Rose squad notched one hit apiece, highlighted by Waseleski's bomb.
Against Lock Haven, freshman Gabrielle Henson got the Lady Eagles out to an early lead with a two run homer deep to left in her first collegiate at bat. Senior Jessie Probst reached earlier in the inning with a double to left, advanced to third on a single from sophomore Paige Stuppy and was sent home on Henson's rocket.

The Lady Eagles nabbed their final run of the game in the third as Probst ripped a RBI single to right with two runners on.

The Golden Knights had chances to score in the second and fourth innings as they left a total of five runners on.

Junior
Danielle Brusca and DuBois, along with Bird, led from the plate with 1-for-3 performances, while sophomore
Renee Vaiano (1-3) suffered the loss in the circle. Vaiano gave up six hits and three runs, all of them earned, and struck out five.

Saint Rose returns to the diamond and opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday, March 18 with a double header at American International. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
