SAINT ROSE SPLITS IN FLORIDA

WINTER PARK, FL–The College of Saint Rose pounded out 16 hits to upend Saint Anselm 16-3 in its opener today at the Rollins College Baseball Week. The Golden Knights (2-8) then fell 14-1 to the host Tars in this afternoon's second game.
 
Saint Rose scored five times in the fourth to go up 6-1 and then took a 16-1 lead in the eighth, before the Hawks (2-8) tacked on a pair of runs in the ninth.
 
Senior second baseman Ryan Hooker went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs, while freshman third baseman Alec Caprarella finished 2-for-5 with three RBI as well to spearhead the Golden Knights attack. Also, senior first baseman Zac Bellinger wound up 3-for-4 and junior catcher Patrick Griffin drove home a pair of runs.
 
On the mound, junior left-hander Joe Pokrentowski allowed a run on five hits throughout 6.1 innings of work to pick up the victory.
 
In today's finale, Rollins (10-9) broke open a 4-0 game with five runs in the fourth.
 
Freshman first baseman Chris Introcaso, sophomore catcher Mike Flynn, Bellinger and Caprarella each had a base hit for the Golden Knights.
 
Looking ahead, Saint Rose wraps up its Florida stay tomorrow with an 11:00 am game versus Saint Anselm, while Rollins takes on Assumption at 2:30 pm.
