CONCORDIA UPENDS SAINT ROSE

WINTER PARK, FL–Concordia jumped out to an early start and never looked back to hand The College of Saint Rose a 7-2 setback tonight at the Rollins College Baseball Week. The Golden Knights put a runner on base in each inning, but wound up stranding seven.

The Clippers (4-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and broke open a 4-2 ballgame by pushing across three more in the seventh.

Senior left fielder Nick Venier went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI base hit in the sixth that brought Saint Rose (1-7) to within a pair of runs. However, Concordia put itself in the driver's seat in the seventh. Meanwhile, freshman third baseman Alec Caprarella also had two base hits for Saint Rose.

As for the Clippers, senior right fielder Cristian Fiorito belted a three-run homer in the first and freshman center fielder Cameron Crabbe finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

Looking ahead, both teams continue their stay in the Sunshine State tomorrow. The Golden Knights will face Saint Anselm at 11:00 am and the host Tars at 2:30 pm, while Concordia will meet Assumption at 6:00 pm.
