DEFENDING NE-10 CHAMPION ADELPHI UPENDS SAINT ROSE

GARDEN CITY, NY-Defending Northeast-10 Conference champion and fourth-ranked Adelphi jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to a 16-4 win versus The College of Saint Rose earlier today.

Junior attack Justin Golec scored twice for the Golden Knights (0-2), while senior attack Kevin Fleming and senior midfielder Ryan McFee had one goal each, all unassisted.

Junior attack Salvatore Tuttle found the back of the net three times and set up four additional strikes to pace Adelphi (3-0), which has outscored it three opponents by a collective 45-10 margin.

Neither team was able to produce a goal throughout the opening 10 minutes, but Adelphi scored four times in the final 4:54 of the opening period. However, Fleming and McFee struck less than two minutes apart in the second stanza to cut the Saint Rose deficit in half. It would not get any closer though as Adelphi reeled off 10 unanswered goals to open up a 14-2 lead with 3:15 remaining in the third.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to return to action this Tuesday with a 4:00 pm date at Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, while Adelphi is scheduled to host LIU Post next Saturday, March 7, at noon.
