GOLDEN KNIGHTS HAVE WIN STREAK SNAPPED

GARDEN CITY, NY-Host Adelphi held The College of Saint Rose without a field goal throughout the final 3:27 to snap the Golden Knights four-game win streak with a 67-60 victory in Northeast-10 Conference action tonight. The Panthers also outscored Saint Rose (9-17/7-12 NE-10) 17-6 from the free throw line and manufactured a 40-28 differential off the glass.

Junior guard Max Weaver tossed in 15 points, two shy of his career-high, to go along with four assists and four steals, while freshman guard Jamaal Greenwood and junior forward Chris Dorgler added 11 and 10 respectively.

It was a tale of two halves as Saint Rose led by as many as 15, 30-15, with 7:40 left in the first period after freshman center Sam Eckstrom knocked down a jumper. However, Adelphi (5-9/2-16 NE-10) reeled off 13 unanswered points to get to within a bucket, 30-28, four minutes later. The Golden Knights then scored the period's final six points to go in the locker room up eight, 36-28.

Weaver opened the second stanza with a layup that made it a 10 point ballgame, but the Panthers again countered, this time via a 14-5 jaunt that got them to within one, 43-42, with 13:00 showing on the clock. Sophomore guard Damon Coleman then converted a layup off a Saint Rose turnover that afforded Adelphi its first lead since the game's opening moments. The Panthers subsequently never trailed again although the Golden Knights were within three on six occasions.

Junior guard Justin Jenkins led all scorers with 22 points to go along with eight boards, while Morgan finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for Adelphi. Also, junior center Ryan DeNicola just missed a double-double behind nine points and 12 caroms.
