GODLEN KNIGHTS SUFFER SETBACK TO SURGING HOLY FAMILY

WORCESTER, MA-Holy Family limited The College of Saint Rose to a pair of field goals throughout the final 4:35 to run its win streak to seven games with a 77-69 victory versus the Golden Knights in the final day of action at the East Region Classic on the campus of Assumption College.

The contest featured 11 lead changes and six ties. However, the Tigers (10-2) buried 10 three-pointers and used a 16-4 run with 15:16 remaining that transformed an eight point, 47-39, deficit into a four point, 55-51, cushion with 11:27 to go.

Saint Rose (6-6) made one more push by scoring six unanswered points to afford the game its final deadlock. Freshmen guards Shane Herrity and Pharroh Gordon both canned a pair from the stripe and Gordon finished his own steal with a layup to make it a 59-59 affair with 6:57 showing on the clock.

Holy Family senior guard Eric Fleming then sandwiched two trifectas around a layup from sophomore forward Jack Jones to make it 65-61 Tigers with 5:13 left.

Thirty seconds later, sophomore guard Mical-Ryan Boyd knocked down a 3-pointer to bring the Golden Knights to within one, 67-66, but Holy Family went 6-for-7 from the foul line and outscored Saint Rose 10-3 the rest of the way to seal the victory.

Junior forward Tyler Sayre and sophomore forward Julian Lipinski finished with 16 and 14 points respectively, while Boyd contributed 11 in 29 minutes off the bench to pace Saint Rose. Furthermore, Herrity handed out a season-high eight assists with only one turnover.

Senior guard Reggie Charles recorded a "triple-double" behind 25 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists to propel the Tigers.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is off until Wednesday, January 6 when it returns to Northeast-10 Conference action with a 7:30 pm game versus Southern New Hampshire in the second half of a home conference doubleheader. Meanwhile, Holy Family is back on the hardwood on Wednesday, December 30 with a 4:00 pm non-league date at American International in Springfield.
