#18 GOLDEN KNIGHTS FALL 1-0 AT #12 ADELPHI IN NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

GARDEN CITY, NY–For only the second time in the past nine years, a team other than The College of Saint Rose claimed the Northeast-10 Conference Championship as host and top-seed Adelphi upended the Golden Knights 1-0 today. In the process, the 12th ranked Panthers (17-2-2) captured their first-ever NE-10 title.

The contest was close throughout, but junior forward Laura Gomez created space for herself and sailed a shot home from just outside the area in the 60th minute for what proved to be the game-winner.

The 18th ranked Golden Knights (15-3-3) manufactured thier share of chances with four shots-on-goal. Senior forward Jennifer Busk rattled the crossbar with 24:51 elapsed and sophomore forward Morgan Burchhardt headed a cross just over the bar in the opening five minutes of the second half, which ultimately foreshadowed the eventual outcome.

Freshman keeper Madison Taylor recorded four saves between the posts, while freshman Ann Marie Ulliac registered three saves for Adelphi.

Burchhardt and senior midfielder Michaela Phillips were both named to the All-Tournament team. Burchhardt scored twice in Friday's 3-1 semifinal win versus Assumption, while Phillips helped anchor a defensive unit that surrendered only two goals throughout three NE-10 Championship matches.

Looking ahead, NCAA Tournament berths are scheduled to be announced tomorrow at 6:30 pm on www.ncaa.com. Saint Rose is looking to be awarded its 13th such berth within the past 14 years.
The team will be gathering in Standish Rooms 1 and 2 in the Events and Athletics Center.
