SAINT ROSE WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT


NORTH ANDOVER, MA–The College of Saint Rose extended its win streak to four matches with today's 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack.
 
The Golden Knights (11-10/7-5 NE-10) recorded an efficient .296 team hitting percentage with 39 kills and only 10 errors throughout 98 attack attempts. Conversely, they forced the Warriors (8-16/3-10 NE-10) into 25 attack errors on 101 swings.
 
Junior middle hitter Maryellen Devic recorded her 17th double-double of the year with 10 kills and a like number of digs, while senior right side hitter Carissa Dube put down seven kills without an attack error, to go along with eight blocks, to pace Saint Rose.

The Golden Knights took control by rallying from a 17-12 second set deficit with a 13-5 run to afford themselves a 2-0 lead. They won the first set behind a 7-0 run that transformed a 9-8 lead into a 16-8 advantage and then opened up a 14-9 cushion en route to the third set victory.

 
Freshman setter Sam Kubik and junior setter Eric Ziskin dished out 27 assists collectively. Junior middle hitter Jennifer Gundrum finished with four kills, three digs, and seven blocks; while junior outside hitter Rachel Salasky and freshman middle hitter Grace Campbell contributed six kills apiece.
 
For Merrimack (8-16/3-10 NE-10), sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate McCarroll had seven kills, two aces and a pair of digs.
 
Saint Rose returns home next Friday, November 13 to host league rival Saint Anselm at 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, Merrimack has a noon conference date at Assumption in Worcester, MA next Saturday.
