GOLDEN KNIGHTS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose led throughout the final 39 minutes en route to its third straight victory behind tonight's 78-65 win against Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights (4-1/3-0 NE-10) shot better than 50.0 percent (27-for-48) from the floor for the fourth time this year and had nine players figure in the scoring column. Conversely, they held the Setters (2-3/1-1 NE-10) to 39.0 percent (23-for-59) shooting.

Sophomore forward Julian Lipinski tossed in a career-high 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting to lead the Saint Rose charge. Also, junior forward Tyler Sayre finished with 14 points and five rebounds while sophomore forward Anthony Russell went 4-for-7 from the arc on the way to 14 points in 16 minutes off the bench.

The Golden Knights went into the locker room up 11, 38-27, at the break and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout all but a few moments of the second half. Saint Rose scored eight unanswered points three minutes into the final period that afforded the Golden Knights their biggest lead, 48-30, of the evening on the heels of a Lipinski dunk.

Pace got back to within 11, 57-46, five minute later after freshman guard Ryan Peterson drained a 3-pointer and then pulled to within eight, 63-55, following a jumper by freshman forward Luke McLaughlin with 5:12 remaining.

However, freshman guard Pharroh Gordon drained a trey at the other end and after the Setters came up empty, Sayre knocked down a jumper to put the Golden Knights securely in control, 68-55, with 3:33 left.

Peterson wound up with 16 points and 11 boards and senior forward Kyle Pearson tossed in 15 points for Pace.

Looking ahead, both teams have home non-conference games this Sunday. Saint Rose will host St Joseph (VT) at 7:00 pm, while the Setters will entertain Concordia for a 1:30 pm matinee.
