ALBANY – Despite double-digit kills marks from three different players, The College of Saint Rose volleyball team dropped a 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 14-25, 12-15) decision to visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi Saturday afternoon in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
For the Golden Knights (4-7 overall, 1-2 NE-10), juniors
Rachel Salasky and
Maryellen Devic registered 12 and 13 kills, respectively, followed by senior right side
Carissa Dube with 11. Setters Erika Ziskin and
Sam Kubik combined for 38 assists, while Devic led the defense with 17 digs, notching the double-double. Junior libero
Samantha Atchinson nabbed 14 digs as well.
In the fifth, Adelphi jumped out to an 8-2 lead before the Golden Knights battled back to come within two at the 8-6 mark. Both sides traded points throughout the remainder of the set, with the Panthers leading the entire set. Saint Rose came within two on the same amount of occasions, but could not execute the win.
Both teams took turns claiming the first four games, starting with Saint Rose in set one.
The Golden Knights remain at home on Tuesday when they host American International at 7:00 pm, followed by a three-match road stint starting at Assumption on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
