ALBANY – Junior pin hitter
Maryellen Devic led on both sides of the ball as she recorded 18 digs and 16 kills Tuesday evening, leading The College of Saint Rose volleyball team to its first home victory of the season with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-27, 25-23) win over Northeast-10 Conference foe American International in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
The Golden Knights improved to 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 7-8, 1-3.

Jennifer Gundrum put up five blocks each to lead from the middle.
Saint Rose dug itself a hole in game one, falling by four, but bounced back in game two with a 25-19 win.
In game three, AIC used a pair of 4-0 run to jump out to a 14-6 lead. The Golden Knights battled back with an 8-3 spurt to follow and come within three at 17-14. Both teams continued to chip away at the bound, including a 3-0 run by Saint Rose to take a 24-22 lead late in the game. Junior Natalija Dordevic knocked down two huge kills for the Yellow Jackets to tie the game at 24-all, and again at 25-25, followed by a set and attack error from AIC, giving Saint Rose the 2-1 overall lead.
The Golden Knights kept firing in set four as they moved out to a 4-1 advantage. The Yellow Jackets gained a little momentum as they came back to tie the game four times by the 11-11 mark. Saint Rose moved out ahead again and stayed there until another tie at 19-19, and again at 20-all. AIC could only muster three more points from there, compared to five from the Golden Knights, allowing them to claim the win.
Saint Rose heads to NE-10 foe Assumption on Saturday at 1:00 pm, and will also face Mercy at Laska Gymnasium at 3:00pm. The Golden Knights return home on Tuesday, October 20 to host New Haven at 7:00 pm.
