#17 SAINT ROSE UPENDS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE 2-1 IN OVERTIME

NEW HAVEN–Junior forward Kristin Carr scored the game-winner in the final two minutes of the first overtime session to lift The College of Saint Rose to a 2-1 comeback victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State this afternoon.

Senior forward Jennifer Busk set in Carr on a breakaway who finished with a chip to the left of Owls (5-8-1/5-6-1 NE-10) junior keeper Erica Ridella.

Senior back Nicole Shively leveled it for the 17th ranked Golden Knights (12-2-2/10-2-0 NE-10) when she redirected a loose ball inside the post with 51:23 gone by.

Previously, Southern Connecticut State jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 19:04 elapsed when junior forward Christine Allard headed home a corner kick off the foot of fellow junior forward Meaghan Howard.

Freshman keeper Madison Taylor made four saves in the first half and three more in the second to help Saint Rose win its third straight match. At the other end, Ridella came up with all three of her saves in the second period for the Owls.

Looking ahead, both sides are back on the pitch with conference matches Wednesday. The Golden Knights will host New Haven for their regular-season home finale at 5:30 pm. That contest is scheduled to be streamed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv. Meanwhile, the Owls will travel to Colchester, VT for a 3:00 pm meeting at Saint Michael's.
