LATE STRIKE FOILS #10 GOLDEN KNIGHTS EFFORT AT #20 ADELPHI

GARDEN CITY, NY–Host Adelphi struck with the game's lone goal in the 86th minute to upend The College of Saint Rose in this evening's Northeast-10 Conference match that featured two of the country's top-20 teams. In the process, the Panthers picked up their first win against the Golden Knights in 16 years.

Junior midfielder Morgan Santoro provided the difference for Adelphi (9-2-2/7-0-2 NE-10) when she drove home a shot from outside the area that sailed into the upper-right corner for her fourth goal of the season.

Adelphi thus became only the second-team all year to outshoot the Golden Knights (9-2-2/7-2-2 NE-10). The Panthers strung together 20 strikes, including nine on goal, while Saint Rose fired three of its nine shots on target. Senior keeper Madison Taylor came up with a season-high eight saves to keep the outcome in doubt until the very end.

Looking ahead, both sides are back on the pitch Saturday. The Golden Knights have an 11:00 am date at Bentley while the Panthers have a home meeting versus Franklin Pierce at 6:00 pm.
