SAINT ROSE CHALKS UP AN IMPRESSIVE VICTORY AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

RINDGE, NH–The College of Saint Rose won five of six singles matches in straight sets and surrendered only six games throughout the three doubles matches to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce 8-1 today.

Sophomore Averie Bowen and senior Isabella Cubillos lost only four games collectively to take decisive wins in the first two singles flights, while senior Paige Southwick won 6-3, 6-3 at the third flight.

Sophomore Alanna Bergmann won at fifth singles by taking the second set tiebreaker 7-0 and senior Maria Malafronte won the sixth singles match 8-6.

The Golden Knights (4-11/2-8 NE-10) put themselves in control during the doubles portion. Bowen and Cubillos won at the first flight 8-1, Southwick and Bergmann took the second flight 8-2, and Malafronte and sophomore KeriAnn Mahoney prevailed 8-3 at the third doubles.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back on the road tomorrow with a 3:30 pm date at conference rival New Haven. Meanwhile, the Ravens (1-12/1-11 NE-10) have a 2:00 pm non-league match versus Plymouth State on Thursday.
