ALBANY-Merrimack put five players in double figures scoring and shot 55.6 percent (25-for-45) from the floor to defeat The College of Saint Rose 81-59 in
Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. In the process, the Warriors (8-5/4-4 NE-10) improved to 5-1 on the road this year.

Junior guard
Keyontae Williams paced the Golden Knights (6-9/3-7 NE-10) with 12 points, while senior center
Mariah Lesure wound up with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Merrimack went in the locker room ahead by eight, 36-28, at intermission. The Warriors led by as many as 15, 30-15, with five minutes remaining in the period, but Saint Rose scored 13 of the final 19 points to cut its deficit to single digits.

However, the Warriors put themselves in the driver's seat with an 11-2 run throughout the opening five minutes of the second period that transformed their eight point halftime lead into a 47-30 cushion. Merrimack eventually boosted its advantage to as much as 26 points.

Sophomore guard Caitlyn Garger went 7-for-9 from the floor on the way to a game-high 17 points for the visitors. Senior forward Aria Johnson tossed in 14, while senior guard Chloe Rothman and junior guard Tia Scott finished with 13 and 12 respectively. Freshman forward Stormee Van Belle added 10 in 16 minutes off the bench.

Looking ahead, both teams are back on the floor this Saturday, January 17. The Golden Knights will host Georgian Court in a 1:30 pm non-league encounter, while the Warriors will host Le Moyne for a 1:00 pm NE-10 meeting in North Andover, MA.
