NORTH ANDOVER, MA-A powerful performance by the Merrimack proved to be too much for The College of Saint Rose as it dropped a tough 8-1 decision in its
Northeast-10 Conference opener Sunday afternoon at Bert Hammel Court.
Freshman
Alanna Bergmann picked up the lone point for the Golden Knights (1-1/0-1 NE-10) at fourth singles when she downed Abbey Bryant 7-5, 6-4.
Merrimack (1-0/1-0 NE-10) lit the fire early in doubles play as it claimed both the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. Saint Rose juniors

Paige Southwick fell at first doubles 8-5, followed by senior
Megan Stacklum and Bergmann falling 8-1 to Rachel Muller and Mackenzie Blair.
Cubillos and Southwhick each dropped their decisions at first and second singles, respectively. Cubillos posted scores of 6-3, 6-2, and Southwhick finished at 6-0, 6-1. Stacklum and freshman

The Golden Knights hit the courts again on Wednesday, September 10 when they host Saint Thomas Aquinas at 4:30 pm at Kelton Courts.
