Scouting Saint Rose (7-4/0-1 NE-10): The Golden Knights registered a 1-1 mark last week, sweeping LIU Post and later falling 3-2 in their
Northeast-10 Conference opener at Adelphi. Sophomore middle hitter
Maryellen Devic leads the attack and ranks second in the league with a 3.41 kills per-set average. Senior
Tori Daniels and sophomore
Erica Ziskin hold 4.61 and 4.26 assists per-set marks, while senior
Katy Daniels leads the NE-10 with 5.59 digs per-set.
Scouting Southern Connecticut State (4-9/1-1 NE-10): The Owls went 2-2 last week, with wins over league foe Pace (3-1)and Bloomfield (3-0). Merrimack and Georgian Court proved to be too much as both teams shut out SCSU 3-0. Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Hauser holds a team-high 2.36 kills per-set average, while junior setter Taylor Carlson dishes out 4.05 assists per-set. Junior libero Morgan Carman registers a 4.09 digs per-set mark, and Briauna Tutwiler has put up 24 total blocks this season for a 0.67 per-set average.
Last Meeting: Saint Rose took a 3-0 win from the Owls last October in New Haven. Devic and sophomore outside hitter
Carissa Dube knocked down eight kills apiece, and Daniels (Tori) and sophomore
Ariana Wilson combined for 33 assists on the day. Daniels (Katy) dug up 17 Owls attacks to pace the defense. SCSU was held to a .167 attack percentage, and Hauser registered six kills and 14 assists to lead the returning key players.
