Brookeville, N.Y – A double-double from senior setter Tori Daniels and 12 kills from sophomore middle hitter Maryellen Devic gave The College of Saint Rose volleyball team momentum for a 3-0 victory over non-conference foe LIU Post Friday evening at Pratt Recreation Center.

The Golden Knights improve to 7-3 overall on the season while the Pioneers move to 8-7.

Set one got off to a back-and-forth start with five ties, the last coming at 10-10, before Saint Rose picked up five points in a row for a 15-10 lead. The Golden Knights were unable to put more than three points on the board in a row throughout the rest of the set as the Pioneers kept the game close, but Saint Rose maintained a steady lead and came away with the 25-21 win.

In the second, the Golden Knights did not waste any time as they ran out to a 17-9 lead with an eight-point spurt. The Pioneers managed to pick up nine more points throughout the game, but it would not be enough compared to the Golden Knights' large lead.

Saint Rose jumped ahead in the third as well, but the Pioneers were able to come back and tie the game at 15-15. The Golden Knights were able to pull away and take a 20-16 lead, and only allow LIU Post to grab six more points while Saint Rose took a 25-22 win.

Devic led the attack with 12 kills, and nearly missed the double-double with nine digs. Sophomore Arianna Wilson dished out 13 assists, along with Daniels (Tori). Junior middle hitter Maddy Halverson led from the net with three blocks.

Saint Rose hits the court again on Saturday and opens its Northeast-10 Conference season against Adelphi at 2:00 pm.
