STONEHILL BLANKS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

EASTON, MA–The College of Saint Rose fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe Stonehill 9-0 Sunday afternoon. The Skyhawks entered the afternoon  ranked ninth in the ITA Division II East Regional rankings.
 
All three doubles pairings posted 8-1 losses. Juniors Isabela Cubillos and Paige Southwick combined for first doubles, senior Megan Stacklum and freshman KeriAnn Mahoney at second, and freshman Alanna Bergmann and junior Maria Malafronte at No. 3.
 
Cubillos came close in singles at No. 1 as she forced a tiebreaker, but eventually fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-1. Stacklum and Mahoney both registered scores of 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
 
Southwick and Bergmann also recorded similar scores of 6-1, 6-0 at second and fifth singles, respectively. Malafronte rounded out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 loss at No. 6.
 
After a weekend on the road, Saint Rose (1-4/0-3 NE-10) returns home for three league matches next week. The Golden Knights host New Haven on Tuesday at 4:30 pm, Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 2:00 pm and Assumption on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Stonehill (3-0/3-0 NE-10) has a 3:00 pm league match at conferrence rival Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday.
