ALBANY – All five starters for No. 2 Southern Connecticut State registered double figures en route to a 99-70 victory over The College of Saint Rose men's basketball team Wednesday evening in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
The Golden Knights fell to 4-4 overall, and 2-2 in the NE-10, while the Owls remained perfect at 7-0, 3-0.
Juniors Chris Dorgler and Max Weaver paced the Saint Rose offense with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman forward Jalaun Taylor nabbed a team-high nine boards and two steals, and Dorgler dished out six assists.
The Owls shot an impressive 57.6 percent from the floor in the first half, including 9-for-15 at 3-point range, for a 52-28 hold at the half. The Golden Knights put 42 points on the board in the second, but it would not be enough compared to SCSU's 47. The Owls led by as much as 37 with 10:36 remaining, notching 14 points off the bench, and 16 in the paint.
Saint Rose returns to the floor on Saturday, December 13 for a 5:00 pm meeting at Southern New Hampshire, followed by its final home game of the semester on Wednesday December 17 against New Haven. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm in Nolan Gymnasium.
