ALBANY – Double-digit figures from senior guard Jamie Hutcheson and sophomore forward Staci Barrett allowed The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team to claim a 74-50 non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom Monday evening at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Saint Rose (3-3 overall) shot a season-high 53.8 percent from the floor, and grabbed 30 points off 17 Goldey-Beacom (0-6) turnovers.
Saint Rose started off hot as it jumped out to a 14-0 lead less than four minutes into the game, forcing a Goldey-Beacom timeout. The Golden Knights controlled the rest of the half, and posted 45 points before entering the break, marking the most points from the team in a single half all season. In the second, Saint Rose maintained its steady lead, and led by as much as 28 at two different times throughout the half.
Hutcheson paced the Golden Knights offense with a season-high 17 points, seven boards and three steals, followed by Barrett with 16 points. Senior guard Gabie Polce dished out five assists, and Hutcheson and junior guard Tyler Hansen both went 2-for-2 from the line.
The Golden Knights return to Nolan Gymnasium on Wednesday as they host Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern Connecticut beginning at 5:30 pm.
