SAINT ROSE CELEBRATES SENIOR DAY WITH 2-0 VICTORY

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose celebrated Senior Day by scoring a pair of first half goals that stood up in a 2-0 victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley this afternoon at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The sixth-ranked Golden Knights (15-1-2/11-1-2 NE-10) dictated the pace early before a cold downpour and a steady wind hampered any meaningful ball possession throughout the final 30 minutes.

Saint Rose, which has now won 15 games in nine consecutive seasons, manufactured a 17-1 shot advantage and a 9-2 corner kick differential during the first period.

Freshman forward Morgan Burchhardt scored both goals while senior forward Carmelina Puopolo and junior midfielder Jennifer Busk each picked up an assist.

Puopolo set up the game-winner when she delivered a cross from the left flank that Burchhardt deflected home with 23:15 gone by. Sixteen minutes later, Busk delivered a feed from the right flank that Burchhardt converted for her seventh tally this autumn.

Between the posts, sophomore Ashley Homer was called upon to make just one save as Saint Rose registered its 11th shutout. For Bentley (2-15-0/0-14-0 NE-10), freshman Deirdre Macrorie and sophomore Paige Laliberte made eight saves collectively.

Prior to the match, Puopolo was honored along senior backs La'Quilla Upton and Jourdan Thompson, and senior midfielders Meeghan Arno and Emily Benjamin. The quintet has recorded an 89.1 winning percentage (79-6-7) thus far in their careers.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose will host an NE-10 Championship Quarterfinal match this Tuesday, November 4, at 4:00 pm against a yet to be determined opponent.
